It's fish for Friday as Gerry socks it to the salmon

The finished article
See that salmon.  Truly, Gerry has well and truly cooked it into submission.  It just lies there on the plate looking gorgeous, accompanied by potatoes, lashed with butter and tossed lightly in mint.

But it wasn't always like that.  Oh no.  It took a while to get to this stage, but Gerry was there, like a good shepherd (actually the sheep in the back field belong to the next door neighbour) - Gerry was there like a good steward.

Here we are at the start of the process with one which Gerry has prepared earlier.  In order to see what's going on you probably need the side view.

There's bu-er (they all speak like that in the country, they're just not like London folk).  Only kidding, there's butter, a bay leaf (there are bay trees in the garden), and a large sliver of lemon peel.  Then it's into the oven.

And theen it's out of the oven and onto the plate.  Nice china, don't you think?

And here's another look from a slightly different angle - no reason, but it is fish and I always think that's reason enough.

Cheese and biscuits to follow - no photos of these, but they were tasty.  Gute nacht. Schlaf schӧn.
